CAGLIARI, Italy - A British tourist and two Italians were killed when two trains collided on the island of Sardinia, according to police officials in Italy.
Officials said that the accident occurred at 7.35 am between Bortigali and Birori. The driver of the train and a local commuter were killed in the accident, along with the British tourist. The British tourist has been identified as a 30-year old Swiss-born woman, but she was holding a British passport.
Police officials reported that the British tourist's boyfriend has been hurt in the crash and is currently receiving treatment in the hospital. The crash took place between Bortigali and Birori, shortly after 7 am.
