Hong Kong - A woman who killed her lover by pouring acid over him has been jailed for life in Hong Kong, a court report said Wednesday. Li Yinying doused Yip Yu-lin with hydrochloric and sulphuric acid after a confrontation over him talking to his wife on the phone, the report in the South China Morning Post said.

The 50-year-old security guard who was on duty at the Disneyland site at the time of the attack in August last year, suffered third-degree chemical burns to his body and the whole of his face. He died three days later in hospital.

The court heard the couple had met in the border city of Shenzhen in China and began an affair with Yip, who had promised to leave his wife.

An earlier offer by Li, a 43-year-old mainland Chinese woman, to plead guilty to manslaughter was rejected by the court.
