LONG ISLAND, N.Y., June 10 Two men were arrested in Long Island, N.Y., with more than $1,100 worth of fireworks in the back seat of their car.
One of the men, Daniel Minier, 23, also admitted to smoking marijuana in the car on the way back from Pennsylvania, where they purchased the fireworks, the New York Post reported Sunday.
Suffolk police said the driver, Joseph Giorgio, 21, admitted he "was never expecting to get arrested in (his) driveway," after the duo was confronted when they returned to Giorgio ' s home with the fireworks. The two men have been charged with a misdemeanor for unlawfully dealing explosives and possession of marijuana, and a felony for possession of an explosive without a license.
The police would not specify what types of fireworks were found in the car, but did say there were "mortars," which are tubes that shoot fireworks into the air.
