ATLANTA, June 9 Atlanta Braves pitcher Tim Hudson suffered a lower left-leg injury Saturday night in his start against the Chicago Cubs.

The veteran right-hander was struck by a sharply hit grounder by Jacque Jones in the top of the third inning. He left in the bottom half, and is listed as day-to-day with a contusion.

"It's pretty sore," Hudson said afterward. "It's not the best one I have ever gotten. He got me pretty flush, and luckily nothing's broken. It'll be sore for a couple of days, though." Before he was injured, Hudson plunked Cubs' leadoff hitter Alfonso Soriano in the back with his first pitch of the contest.

Soriano hit three solo home runs Friday night.

"I wasn't trying to hit the guy," Hudson said. "Sure, he's been hot. He killed us the day before, hitting the first pitch for a homer, so I was just trying to throw a pitch in off the plate. It hit him."
