London- British Prime Minister Tony Blair Wednesday endorsed plans by a top university to strip Zimbabwean leader Robert Mugabe of an honorary degree conferred 13 years ago. The senate of Edinburgh University, in Scotland, was expected to decide later Wednesday whether the honour should be withdrawn.
Blair, speaking in parliament in London, said he "fully endorsed" the sentiment behind the move.
A panel of three senior professors investigating the case of the Zimbabwean president has recommended that the degree should be withdrawn, the university said.
