TOYOHASHI, Japan, May 25 A Japanese woman who allegedly bit a police officer in the leg during a traffic stop early Friday has been charged with obstructing police.

The woman could also face a drunken driving charge, Mainichi Shimbun reported.

Police pulled her over in Toyohashi, Aichi prefecture, after she flashed her lights at a patrol car. Officers said that she babbled about a recent hostage incident in the prefecture, the newspaper said.

She then bit the officer, causing wounds that officials said would take up to two weeks to heal.

The 27-year-old woman was described as a contract worker for Nagoya Broadcasting Co. who was hired in April to search for stock footage, Mainichi Shimbun said.
