BRASILIA, Brazil, May 24 Hundreds of protesters invaded a dam in the Amazon rainforest in protest against an electricity shortage for nearby residents.

The estimated 200 protesters converged on the dam in the northern state of Para and broke the windows of the facility's control room, Estado de Sao Paulo. The Brazilian government has ordered troops to remove the protesters from the site.

No one was hurt, however, and protesters reportedly left after the dam's manager offered them food.
