NEW DELHI - The Supreme Court of India has suspended legal recourse taken by a lawyer in the Richard Gere-Shilpa Shetty kiss row. A Rajasthan court had issued arrest warrant against Gere, which now stands suspended.
The whole incident was kicked off when Hollywood star Richard Gere was in Delhi for an AIDS awareness program. His very public kiss shared with Miss Shetty on April 15, triggered outrage in the country with many organizations claiming it was obscene.
Gere himself was nonchalant about the issue, saying it was nothing. However he has since apologized if he offended someone because of the incident.
Anand Grover, who represented Shetty, said the cases were "frivolous" and "a total misuse of the legal process".
Shilpa Shetty has been in the news in recent months after her huge success in UK where she won the Celebrity Big Brother show amid racist taunts by her co-contestants.
