LONDON, May 13 A London art gallery is embarrassed after painting over a mural by a renowned graffiti artist.
The Mail on Sunday reported that about two months ago, the artist known as Bansky painted a mural on the side of the White Cube art gallery. But after the $397,000 piece of art was painted over recently, gallery employees are denying any part in its destruction.
The mural was titled "Sweep It Under The Carpet" and showed a maid lifting up a part of the wall like a piece of carpet to sweep away dust. The manager of a neighboring restaurant told the British newspaper he saw employees of the gallery painting over the mural. He said he thought it was a shame, as people in the neighborhood had seemed to enjoy it.
