INVERNESS, Scotland, May 11 Scottish police are investigating an incident where a student teacher taped shut the mouths of two disruptive five-year-olds.

Police were called in by school administrators after parents expressed outrage at the unnamed female teacher's actions at the Aviemore Primary School in Inverness shire, the Glasgow (Scotland) Daily Record reported Friday.

"Two children were involved," said the father of a girl whose mouth was taped by the teacher. "We complained to the school, who then took the matter to the police." The student teacher quit after being suspended over the incident.

"We are aware of the details of this incident and do not believe we should take any further immediate action," a Highland Council spokeswoman said. "The student involved is no longer at the school." A Northern Constabulary spokesman said: "A joint inquiry was carried out by the council's social work services, education department and the police. A report has been submitted to the fiscal."
