Research In Motion (RIM) unveiled its newest offering in the BlackBerry line, BlackBerry Curve, packing it with a couple of new features as the company seeks new pastures in the mobile phone market.
Curve is the smallest BlackBerry to offer a QWERTY keyboard. While it is loaded with standard features like calling, wireless e-mail functions and play music and video clips, Curve is fitted with a 2-megapixel camera with 5X zoom and built-in flash and offers an advanced media manager program and a photo editor.
RIM co-Chief Executive Jim Balsillie revealed that even though BlackBerry Pearl met with a huge success, users wanted a phone with a similar sleek design and a QWERTY keyboard. While BlackBerry has become popular with professionals or "prosumers", RIM senior product manager Karen Rudnitski said that BlackBerry Curve was built keeping both the business and personal use.
"We're not going to dictate who it's for. There are a lot of enterprise users who will be interested in the Curve for its size, and a camera can be useful for some business applications", she said. BlackBerry Curve will be available in UK by the end of this month and will cost $200.
