AUSTIN, Texas, May 1 Dog-owning residents of a luxury condominium planned for Austin, Texas, will have a floor with a dog park for walks, complete with a pet toilet.Scott Ziegler of the architectural firm Ziegler Cooper Architects of Houston said the toilet plans for the 55-story development of The Austonian appear to be a first in the country, the Austin American-Statesman reported Tuesday. He said the 10th floor of the site will also feature an "urban garden" with a lap pool for humans, a billiard room, an outdoor movie screen and the self-cleaning toilet which he said will be specially scented to attract dogs. "It's a stainless-steel plate, 18 inches square, and that's the surface that the dogs are attracted to when the dog does his business," Ziegler told the newspaper. "Then you hit the fob, an electronic key, and a little scraper scrapes the dog's residue into the sanitary system." The doggie toilets at The Austonian will be located outdoors on the terrace of the 10th floor, not indoors. Prices for the condo units are being advertised as ranging from $550,000 to $3.8 million, the newspaper said.Copyright 2007 by UPI
