New Delhi, April 30 Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's term as member of parliament ends June 14. But it seems certain that he will be re-elected for a fourth term from Assam when the biennial elections are held May 24.Manmohan Singh is one of the two Rajya Sabha MPs from Assam whose terms expire June 14. The other member is Indramoni Bora.Singh has served three terms as member of Rajya Sabha since 1991 when he was finance minister under the late prime minister P.V. Narasimha Rao. He served his second term in 1995 and was re-elected for a third in 2001.The notification for the election from Assam will be released May 7 with nominations closing May 14 and scrutiny taking place the next day. The last date for withdrawal is May 17. Polling is scheduled for May 24, according to an official release.Election to fill the vacancy caused due to the death of sitting member Chittabrata Mazumdar from West Bengal would be held along with these polls. Majumdar died on Feb 20. The elected member would serve the remaining tenure of Majumdar's term which ends Aug 18, 2011. (c) Indo-Asian News Service
