WASHINGTON, April 18 The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the nationwide recall of H S Joy of Love dietary supplement because it could interact with prescription drugs. The voluntary recall by Jen-On Herbal Science Inc., a Chinese herbal manufacturing company, stems from a FDA analysis of the product that determined it contains Piperadino Vardenafil, an analog of Vardenafil -- a drug used as treatment for erectile dysfunction. The Rowland Heights, Calif., company said Piperadino Vardenafil might possess a similar pharmacological profile that poses a threat to consumers because it might interact with nitrates found in some prescription drugs used to treat diabetes, high cholesterol levels and heart disease, lowering blood pressure to dangerous levels.H S Joy of Love is sold nationwide as a 12-capsule blister pack packaged in a retail box.Consumers who have H S Joy of Love in their possession should stop using it immediately and return any unused portion for a full refund. Instructions on the return and refund process are available from the company at (626) 333-9998.Copyright 2007 by UPI
