NASHVILLE, Tenn. - "American Idol" winner Carrie Underwood swept the Country Music Television Awards on Monday as she scored a double win with her song "Before He Cheats."
The song based on the theme of revenge won the "CMT Music Awards Video of the Year" and the "Female Video of the Year." Last year Underwood had dominated the Country Music Association show when she had won the elite Horizon award. Additionally she had also managed to land the Female Vocalist of the Year award.
Newcomer Taylor Swift took home the breakthrough video of the year award, while Jack Ingram won the maiden wide open country video of the year. The two-and-a-half hour ceremony took place at Nashville and was hosted by Jeff Foxworthy at The Curb Event Center at Belmont University.
The daughter of the late Johnny Cash, Rosanne Cash, presented the Johnny Cash Visionary Award to Kris Kristofferson in a moving moment. "He stood up for me when a lot of people didn't," Kristofferson said later on. He also told reporters he was taking Rosanne to the site of her father's home, which was burnt last week.
Rascal Flatts "What Hurts the Most" was awarded the Awards Group Video, while Kenny Chesney's "You Save Me" was the Male Video of the Year.
