SHANGHAI, China, April 15 Markus Brier posted his second consecutive four-under-par 67 and pulled away Sunday to win the Volvo China Open by five strokes.

Brier finished at 10-under 274 to collect his second European Tour victory. Scott Hend, Graeme McDowell and Andrew McLardy tied for second at five-under 279.

Brier turned in a solid round Sunday, getting birdies on Nos. 2 and 3. He bogeyed No. 4 but closed the front side with birdies on 8 and 9. He carded eight consecutive pars before closing the round with a 5-foot birdie putt on No. 18.

Hend, who was one stroke back of Brier after three rounds, saw his chances evaporate with back-to-back bogeys on 10 and 11. He also bogeyed 17 to fall five strokes behind going into the last hole.

The round of the day belonged to Steve Jeppesen, who had a course-record eight-under 63. That jumped him from 60th place after the third round to 14th at one-over 285 for the tournament.
