Nintendo has finally unveiled the full version of its Opera-based web browser for Wii, known as Internet Channel. Nintendo said that the download of the browser will be free till June 30 and users will have to pay a fee of $5 or 500 Wii points from then onwards.

Using the Wii Internet Channel, users can access high-speed internet connection on their TV sets. Nintendo has tweaked up the previous trial version of the browser with features such as manual zoom, automatic mode, improved scrolling functionality, collapsible toolbars and multiple on-screen cursors.

Scott Hedrick, executive vice president of Devices for Opera Software, revealed that his company considered the inputs made by Wii fans from throughout the world following the release of the trial version. "We received a lot of user feedback after the Christmas release of the original version, and based on that feedback we have created a browser that is clean, intuitive and made for viewing on the TV", he said.

The Wii Internet Channel also features a Parental Control option which can be used by parents to restrict the content that their kids can view. For parents who want a stronger protection, Nintendo offers a bookmark for Astaro Wii Content Filtering Portal, which has a higher level of browsing protection. However this service will be available only after May 7.
