NEW YORK, April 7 A 13-year-old girl was arrested after writing the word "OKAY" on her desk at Dyker Heights Intermediate junior high school in New York. Chelsea Friseur and three other eighth graders from the school were taken out in handcuffs by police for doodling on desks and plastering classroom walls with stickers, The New York Post reported.

"I know what I did was wrong, but I think arresting me was going a bit too far," said Friseur after the arrest in March 30. Three boys allegedly covered the classroom's walls in stickers while Chelsea doodled on her desk during social studies class on March 28.

A spokesman for the NYPD defended the arrests, stating "the school wanted to pursue criminal charges." Department of Education spokeswoman Marge Feinberg also reported that the school's Principal Madeleine Brennan called the police.

The students are to appear in Brooklyn Family Court on April 24.
