DALLAS, March 31 Thunderstorms, high winds, hail and even snow hit Texas as a line of severe storms moved across the state.

In the Dallas-Fort Worth area more than 2 inches of rain was reported by 11 p.m. Friday, the Houston Chronicle reported.

"Overall, it was a multimillion-dollar rainfall," said Al Moller, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Fort Worth office. By Saturday morning the bad weather had moved south to Houston and Galveston.

Flood warnings remained in effect around Dallas, The Dallas Morning News reported. The Trinity River was expected to top out at 36 feet Saturday evening, almost 6 feet over flood stage.

At least three tornadoes touched down in Central Texas, although no deaths or serious injuries were reported. Snow fell early Friday in part of the Texas Panhandle.

Moller said that the storms, while they inconvenienced travelers and those who lost power, probably did more good than harm by topping up reservoirs.
