WASHINGTON, March 30 The U.S. government says it is boosting international support for programs to stop a possible bird flu pandemic.

The U.S. Agency for International Development has announced a three-year, $35.8 million contract for a program called Stamping out Pandemic and Avian Influenza -- or STOP AI -- designed to limit the impact of bird flu around the globe.

The government says STOP AI aims to increase global capacity to contain H5N1 avian influenza in animals, minimizing its spread from animals to humans, and limiting the opportunity for it to develop into a pandemic strain.

"STOP AI will help countries reduce and contain the spread of avian influenza in animals by delivering technical assistance and management services to strengthen the response capacity of developing countries -- which are particularly vulnerable to the threat due to insufficient resources and infrastructure," said Ambassador John E. Lange, the U.S. Special Representative, Avian and Pandemic Influenza.

Stopping AI
By: David Moskowitz MD FACP , Sat, 31 Mar 2007 18:14:57 GMT

We think we may have hit upon a universal viral antidote. As luck would have it, the antidote consists of already existing drugs present in every drugstore on earth. And they're cheap. As well as extraordinarily safe--much safer than aspirin.

Help us test our hypothesis. The White House asked us for a briefing in June, 2004. The Dept of Homeland Security was briefed later that year. And the UN Avian Influenza authorities are aware of it. Our protocol was included in S.975, Sen. Lieberman's Project BioShield II Act introduced April 28, 2005 into the US Senate (see Section 2151).

The protocol for bird flu (or WNV) can be downloaded for free from our home page at www.genomed.com.

It's been working well for the past 4 years against another lethal viral disease that kills by unleashing a cytokine storm, namely West Nile virus (WNV).

We're offering our free WNV encephalitis trial for the 5th consecutive season.

Sincerely,
