Move over Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Pierce Brosnan and the likes. For this year, People magazine has voted Hollywood actress Penelope Cruz's sweetheart Matthew McConaughey the 'sexiest man alive'.

The actor, notorious for being arrested in 1999 for prancing naked to the beats of the bongo in his home in Austin, Texas, has been described as 'chivalrous and passionate' and has also been credited with being able to cook 'a mean marinara'. His 'heaping helping of Texas's finest Southern charm' made him an obvious choice, says the magazine.

As far as films go, among McConaughey's better known films are Dazed and Confused, U-571, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and Sahara. Asked to comment on the honor, the 36-year-old actor joked, “I like the 'alive' part. Now I've made it. Wait until you see the roles I could take after this. You're going to see my gut hanging over, plus 22 pounds. It'll be a whole new kind of sexy!” Asked what turns the hottie on, the self-confessed nicotine addict said, “Grace. When a woman is graceful, you can tell by the way she moves.” Seems like Cruz knows how to make the right moves.

Other actors in the 'hot' list include Patrick Dempsey, Terrence Howard, Viggo Mortensen, Vince Vaughn, Matt Damon, Heath Ledger, Orlando Bloom, and Ian McShane, among others. Non-film personalities like special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald of the CIA leak case fame and CNN's Anderson Cooper also made it to the list, as did singers like U2's Bono, Nick Lachey and Keith Urban.

“I am pale and skinny with gray hair. I don't get the appeal,” said Anderson Cooper. According to the magazine, his coverage of the Katrina devastation was 'riveting' to say the least. “I am haunted by people I have met, stories I have told, places I have been. I am changed by all the stories I do,” Cooper explained.

Notable in the 'International Men Of Sexiness' category, were Japanese actor Ken Watanabe and Swiss tennis champ Roger Federer.

The sexy list, which started in 1985, had Mel Gibson as its first ever sexiest man. Since then, a number of heartthrobs have made it to the list. Brad Pitt spiked others to reach the top of the list twice.

    DEPPHEADS UNITE!

Thumbs up to all the Deppheads!! Johnny is hot and talented. I know girls from 13 to 50 that crush on him. He tries (like Brad) not to be the "movie star" image and hides his goodlooks, but he cant. Hes always adorable no matter how he tries to disquises it. Johnny will be sexiest man one year. He probably wont like it though.
