LONDON, March 25 British Prime Minister Tony Blair Sunday said Iran is "unjustified and wrong" to continue holding 15 Royal Navy personnel. Iranian officials contend they arrested the British sailors and marines after they trespassed into Iranian territorial waters. British officials say their personnel were in Iraqi waters when they stopped to search a boat they suspected may have been involved in smuggling.

"It is simply not true that they went into Iranian territorial waters and I hope the Iranian government understands how fundamental an issue this is for us," Blair said. Britain was still waiting to be granted access to the HMS Cornwall staff, who were seized Friday, the BBC said. The exact whereabouts of the detainees in Iran was not known.
