NEW YORK, March 25 More than 8,000 young women auditioned for season 9 of "America's Next Top Model" in New York City. The girls started arriving in the Big Apple on Friday and camped out overnight to get a chance to be on the CW network's hit reality show, the New York Daily News reported."I have been primping since 3 a.m.," said Pearl, 19, a hairdresser who drove from Wilmington, Del., during the night. "I haven't gone to bed yet." "There are girls who get on their hands and knees and cry, cry, cry," said casting director Michelle Mock-Falcon. "Some girls say they have 'it,' but they don't know what 'it' is." The show, which is hosted by supermodel Tyra Banks, only accepts potential models that are at least 5' 7" tall."Some will say, 'So what if I have got curves. So what if I'm 5-foot-6,'" Mock-Falcon said. "(But) you need to be at least 5' 7." Once inside the hotel, the 18 to 27-year-old candidates took part in group interviews, gave their measurements and explained why they should be the next top model.Copyright 2007 by UPI

I am a black female. I am 17 years old, and I am an aspiring model. I think this would be a great thing for me so that i can make something of my life, and I could really make my family proud.

i am a African American male . i am 18 years old. i attend Saluda High School. i am a junior. i am in NJROTC, I cheer, and I also run track. i am really interested in modeling. i would love to get information on this and I would also like to to be able to meet with one of the agencies as soon as possible.

Thank you very much for the inspiration you have given me in my life. I am 45 years old and the mother of 5 grown children. I am currently loosing my sight and instead of loosing my self-esteem and courage, I use God and what I learn on your show to hold my head up high and continue on my journey. I especially use the runway walking techniques and confidence building skills as my eyes change from day to day. You are inspiring to disabled people ( the legally blind woman last season and the Woman with ausburgers(sp?)syndrome in this one)as well as young and older woman alike whether they are models or not. I do not think that only the models have to be 5'7" to enter the America's Next Top Model, models that are 5'3" and over have the potential to become America's Next Top Model and are ready to make that challenge.....

I think girls any height and weight can model really, cause Iam 140lbs and my height is 5'6 and alot of people say i should be a model, which that is my passion to do is model. And I been wanting to model for a long time and Tyra Banks is my everyday coach when I watch the show and take notes on what to do, so I think its my rurn to shine

Hello, this is victoria from Whiteville, NC and I really would like to be a candidate of americas next top model. I am the biggest fan but do not have no modeling experience at all. I would make a good candidate because i am very outgoing and do my best at anything I do. I come from a small town and a small family, but do not meet any strangers. I am 21 years old, weigh 115 pounds and has no kids. I attended Winston-salem state university for 3 years and decided i wanted to do online schooling. I had this dream of being a model since i was a young girl. I can just picture myself posing for any camera that come upon me and walking down any runway that u put before me. Please just give me a chance and I will not fail.

HELLO, AND HOW ARE YOU DOING THIS EVENING. I AM FROM LAFAYETTE, LOUISIANA AND MY SISTER AND HER BEST FRIEND TOLD ME OVER AND OVER THAT I SHOULD TRY TO BE ON AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL. I BELIEVE THAT I WOULD BE A GOOD CANIDATE BECAUSE I AM VERY STRONG WILLED, VERY COOPERATIVE AND WILLING TO DO AND GIVE MY ALL TO WHATEVER TASKS OR TRANSITONS YOUR READY TO PUT ME THROUGH WITH A GRACIOUS SMILE AT THE SAME TIME. I AM 22 YEARS OLD & I HAVE A 3 YEAR OLD SON. HE IS MY WORLD. BEFORE I HAD MY SON I HAD DREAMS OF BEING A MODEL, BUT NEVER TRIED. i really want to be a model it has been a dream since i was young and it would mean the world to me if you let me become one because i have the height, personality, and walk. I am only 16 but thats okay because most people look for young models to work with and i would love to be one. I have been look for someone to accept me my age and weight so please say yes to me become a Americas Next Top Model for the next cycle. I would work real hard because its something that i really want.
