Nintendo's Wii continues to impress

Nintendo Wii continued its impressive performance to once again top the list of best-selling video games console in the United States for the month of February, according to latest figures released by market research firm NPD.
Wii managed to sell over 54 percent of the total hardware sales in February, with gamers grabbing all available units in the market. In total Nintendo sold over 335,000 units Wii consoles. The Japanese game maker continued to rule even in the portable consoles, with over 485,000 units of Nintendo DS being sold, which is more than double the number of PlayStation Portable units sold in the same period.
Reggie Fils-Aime, president, Nintendo of America, was understandably delighted with the performance, saying that his company will be intensifying the production of new units to take care of the shortage.
"We're gratified that the explosive appeal of Wii, in terms of both new players and new ways to play, has created unprecedented demand, substantially beyond supply. But we also understand that there are hundreds of thousands of consumers still waiting to get their hands on the system so we continue to both ship more units to retail every week and work non-stop to build capacity", he said.
Xbox 360 was second on the list, selling around 228,000 copies while PlayStation 3 had to settle for third spot, managing to sell a dismal 127,000 units, even though there were no reports of shortages.

well, todd, i do see how that kind of frustration could happen, but i very much doubt the wii experience will just suddenly appear on the 360, much in the way i don't believe the 360 online experience is gonna magically bleed into the wii. but then, online experiences are an aquired taste. you might well just say you are gonna wait for a redesign or price drop, because either way, 9 months is just too soon.
also, with the sales records nintendo is hoping to break, intentional shortages would be silly. extremely.
there is the real possibility that you are some sort of troll, predetermined to suggest reasons to avoid the wii to others.

Todd, motion sensitive controllers for the 360?
I think not my friend.
On the wii subject, i thought the wait was worth it. I traded in a few of my 360 games to get some of the older GC titles for the wii, (Windwaker, Smash brawl ect) I thought the release games weren't up to much except Zelda. Some of the upcoming games look pretty sick, like Prince of persia, and i got sonic a couple of days ago but the multiplayer is balls, and the single player isn't up to much.
Overall that the wii is pretty good, but nowhere near the power of the 360. (i know everyone says this but halo 3? Wh00t)
PS3? don't make me laugh.

I got sick of waiting to buy a Wii, especially since these production shortages are so obviously intensional. I bought an Xbox360 instead, and I'm sure they'll be motion sensitive controllers available for it in the next 6 to 9 months so I doubt I'm missing anything.
