VALPARAISO, Ind., March 15 An Indiana teenager clocked doing 93 mph allegedly was in a hurry to catch his school bus -- to comply with a judge's order in a previous speeding case.
Ryan M. Henry, 18, of Porter Township near Valparaiso, Ind., is to appear before Porter Superior Court Judge Julia Jent April 16 on a reckless driving charge, for allegedly hitting 93 in a 45 mph zone Tuesday, the Gary (Ind.) Post-Tribune said. That's the same judge who had ordered Henry to ride the school bus following a previous speeding violation.
Porter County Sheriff's Patrolman Roger Bowles said Henry told him he had run out to a gas station in his 2001 Ford Mustang to buy an energy drink before his school bus arrived.
Jent, known for her innovative sentencing, said things like this happen when dealing with young people.
It's going to happen, and you deal with it as it comes along, she said, while noting that Henry is innocent until proven guilty. I raised four kids. I know what they are going to try.
