Hollywood actor Charlie Sheen, on CBS'
Late Show on Thursday, said he might be getting back with his wife Denise Richards. The couple had filed for divorce in March after being married for three years.
Forty-year-old Sheen and 34-year-old Richards have two daughters –18-month-old Sam and 3-month old Lola. Sheen also has a daughter Cassandra from ex-wife Paula Profit.
“We're working toward getting back together and fixing things. It's the first time I got dumped in my life. I think the one thing I would point to as a primary reason, basically, is that I was a gigantic ass,” Sheen said.
He and Richards met on the sets of
Good Advice in 2000 and were married in 2002 after a couple of years' courtship. Sheen also admitted that one of the biggest cause of differences between him and his wife was that he did not contribute to parenting their first-born Sam because he was too busy watching baseball.
“I had an epiphany later on what the sports highlight is for. The sports highlight is for parents, people that should be spending more time doing more important things. But it just bothered me when, I mean... who bathes in the ninth inning? Who bathes in the fourth quarter?” Sheen said, adding, “I had to take a step back and really take a look at myself and the situation. I made a commitment to this woman that I love, this family that I love and I realized this can be fixed. It's okay to part the ego, to abandon self and just stay true to my commitment and be a man of my word.”
The actor, who recently appeared in
Scary Movie 3, is a baseball fanatic and is known to be an avid Cincinnati Reds fan. His knowledge of baseball and its past and current heroes is also well known.
Since their split in March, Richards and Sheen have come a long way in resolving 'irreconcilable differences' especially after Lola was born, the actor said. “Things are really good. Today we have hope, we have a shot,” he said on the show.
