LONDON, July 7- The celebrations at being awarded the right to host the 2012 games had barely died down as terror struck the British capital of London early morning at 09:15 local time. A series of coordinated blasts that targeted the subway shook the city even as Prime Minister Tony Blair was welcoming the delegates of the G8 summit at Gleneagles. Scotland.

At last count six explosions ripped through the London subway at various locations while a bomb exploded in a bus in central London. Latest reports put the death toll estimate at 45 with more than 1000 injured, figures which are expected to change.

The first report of trouble came in at 09:15 local time, when officials of the British Transport Police said that an explosion had occured near Liverpool railway station. Eyewitnesses said that dozens were wounded in the blast, while Metronet, the subway maintenance company, said that a 'power surge' had caused the blast. It was at this point that the whole system was plunged into chaos with reports of explosions coming in from Edgware Road and King's Cross in north London, Old Street in the financial district and Russell Square in central London.

The entire subway system then came to a grinding halt, as stranded commuters were terror-stricken. Even as the Scotland Yard was striving to come to grips with what it called a "major incident," a blast ripped through a bus in Central London. Confused officials were reluctant to divulge any details, but finally said that the blast near the Aldgate East subway station have resulted in two deaths. Emergency crews set out to the affected areas to mount a massive relief operation and have admitted the wounded to nearby hospitals.

Home Secretary Charles Clarke, who is in charge of law enforcement in Britain said that London had been rocked by "a number of dreadful incidents" that resulted in "terrible injuries." Prime Minister Tony Blair was clearly shaken as he struggled to come to grips with the enormity of the attack, "It’s particularly barbaric that this has happened on a day when people are meeting to try to help the problems of poverty in Africa," Mr. Blair said in a statement to the media. He said that he was flying to London to get first-hand reports of the incidents, but added that the G8 Summit would continue without him.

Mr. Blair said that it was "reasonably clear that it is designed and aimed to coincide with the opening of the G-8." But he said that he was determined that the terrorists would not "succeed in destroying what we hold dear in this country and other civilized nations throughout the world." He condoled the casualties and said that he joined the nation in "prayers for the victims and their families."

Meanwhile, an Islamic Web site, Al-Qal’ah, reported a message form a group calling itself "The Secret Organization of al-Qaida in Europe." This group has apparently claimed responsibility for these attacks and has said that London was targeted since it is deeply involved Iraq and Afghanistan. The group also warned that Denmark and Italy are the next targets, "We warned the British government and the British people repeatedly. We have carried out our promise and carried out a military attack in Britain after great efforts by the heroic mujahideen over a long period to ensure its success," the statement said. The authenticity of the statement has not yet been confirmed. This same group had also claimed responsibility for the attacks on commuter trains at Madrid, Spain in March 2004.

The Queen has expressed shock at this attack and issued a statement saying, "The dreadful events in London this morning have deeply shocked us all. I know I speak for the whole nation in expressing my sympathy to all those affected and the relatives of the killed and injured."
London is on a state of high alert following these attacks.

Bruce the economist...
By: Chris , Fri, 08 Jul 2005 04:24:32 GMT

What ever group has done it, needs to be hunted down and killed. We have a 9+ Trillion dollar a year economy... what ever the cost it would take is better than losing 9+ trillion dollars!

You are the true meaning of an idiot.

Newsflashes
By: Beto C. , Fri, 08 Jul 2005 01:00:58 GMT

Hello There! I am alive and well! and I trust you too.
When I woke up this morning in London (around 10.30 AM) all hell had broken loose.
So-called human beings (Homo Sapiens sapiens) never cease to amaze me! ... one reason I believe in Peace but... find War, Justice, Law and Order, etc. a necessity. Consider the present stage of our biological evolution. If it is true that we have sprung from the apes it is also true that we haven't sprung very far...Have a good look around you, observe what you do, what others do(...)draw your own conclusions ("nosce te ipsum!")
Perhaps we need the World to be governed by Intelligence at its best. We need some sort of an ethical Science subservient to Life and Spiritual values! Sadly this is not what the masses want, what politicians aspire to and naked profit thrives on...
The prevailing Ideal (which is not "The Thing" as Krishnamurti used to say...) is Freedom and Democracy! As such we must put up with demagogy for quite a while - at least until The Earth becomes a collosal heap of rubbish. The human virus has spread beyong control. Terrorism driven to its ultimate, logical conclusion. Kaput.
Back to the carnage scenes.
Admittedly: The IRA had some compassion! They were intelligent enough to alert the authorities. To avoid too many casualities. On the other hand we must remember that until recently (mid 40's) the bombing of cities and respective populations were considered valid targets by our...er...Western, European Civilization and, for strategic reasons, no warnings were given, either. Elsewhere, of course, was even worst! but still...
The terrorist breed:
If you give people too much sense of individuality (and why shouldn't you? I find the circus of celebrities and designer tags quite entertaining...) people become so infatuated with their egos that they end up taking The Law into their own hands! To form their own gun-gangs, their own deadly private armies! These petty egos honestly believe they have the righ to terminate anyone's Life in the name of a man-created God (whatever its name). The enemy is everywhere and nowhere. A killing demon with no regrets. Dig that...
Obviously, for zealot psychopaths stuck, as they are, in the Dark Ages... this is sort of carnage is perfectly acceptable. Also bear in mind that these are, most likely, young males. For all we know they could be barbecuing right now! sipping wine...smoking a joint...revelling in their "success". The Living God itsel... lying dead at their feet...
Who Dunnit?
My intution is that these mass-murders were commited by either British or French self-styled Muslims (in the wake of Paris loosing the Olympics stage yesterday...) preposterous? well...any probability is always greater than zero!.. Join one frustation with the other, consider the evolutionary, I mean, predatory nature of The Earth and our species, the nature of The Unconscious (few humans are truly aware of themselves, we are, essentially, socially programmed advanced monkeys,I think) young instinctual males bursting with testosterone... desperately needing an excuse (for a fight)... add as a final touch a man-made God as a redeeming factor...bingo! A 7-7 for London to remember...
Back to History and the drawing board (...)
Personally, I waited for the sun to set... the "the crack between the worlds"... light a candle and stare at my tree friend, a kindred spirit outside my studio's window...I wondered...
Blessings to all beings of Love and Peace. Alive and otherwise.

your an idiot drive our county into economical failer more so to kill a group, who hasn't even admitted it was them in the first place by the way. what are you doing to help the situation moron.

wake up!!
By: christos , Thu, 07 Jul 2005 22:48:10 GMT

when will this all cease....how many have to die before people wake up to what is going on on this planet...the europeans are not innocents here..this is the result of ongoing projection and denial ...pointing the finger out there...when will we as a race start to look within ourselves and root out the "devil" within each one of us.. until we are willing to do our own self searching there will always be something or someone appearing from the outside to show us our own inner corruptness..peace has to begin within one,s self before we will see it reflected to us in our world

Al Queda Vs. Civilized people
By: Rot in Hell scumbags , Thu, 07 Jul 2005 22:35:54 GMT

It is a good thing that Americans are not the flea ridden, inbread, animals that are Al Queda. We could exterminate most terrorist supporting countries with a giant launch of nuclear weapons. It is a good thing that we have that power and not the collection of anal lice that is Al Queda.

wake up
By: TW , Thu, 07 Jul 2005 20:05:16 GMT

These events are indeed deplorable. All of them, regardless of the perpetrators. As I read these posts, I am struck by the general lack of education of some of the western writers. Read, learn to think, learn to write. Learn to discern truth from fiction and realize that we are each born, not to a nationality but to a race. We are human born and live a very short time. Regardless of the actions of the violent and power hungry, we still may live individually with compassion and honor, yet with our eyes wide open to the incongruities and inconsistancies in the information provided to us.

Al Queda being wrong doesn't necessarily mean that the hands of others are any less soiled.

Sad Day...
By: obz , Thu, 07 Jul 2005 18:54:14 GMT

I wonder what terrorist hope to accomplish when they commit their attacks. Regardless what they do their demands won't be met. Ever. Perhaps they will kill some innocent people and get a little press for their 'cause' but it will be forgotten. Their victims however, will remain victims. Why is this the only medium for them to express their hatred? What has made them feel the need to lash out with such careless disregard for people they have never met and never will? Another sad footnote in history.

The Solution
By: Herb , Thu, 07 Jul 2005 16:49:31 GMT

As an Anglo-American I am in total agreement with those who seek to close Great Britain's borders. We should be doing the same in the US.

My solution is to send to France all those desiring to immigrate . France seems to always bow to adversity. Based on their past they would most likely enjoy allowing all the "good Muslims" in to run their country as they did their German buddies during WW II. God forbid having to worry that anything catastrophic could happen to their precious Paris. It's always been better for them to make deals that cost the rest of the free world their Paris'.

As President Bush said at the onset of this dark period of history: "You're either with us or against us!". We're with you Great Britain!

religions
By: Pete , Thu, 07 Jul 2005 16:31:06 GMT

I can't understand the mindset of the terrorists involved, it scares me to think that throughout their few years of life they've somehow become influenced enough by their elders and peers to hate and murder the people of USA and UK.

To avoid a war that will last for generations upon generations, we need to somehow educate all people and ESPECIALLY children to realise how significantly unethical terrorism in any form is.

There's only one human race and only one planet, religions have caused people to murder millions upon millions of people.

Mr. Afraid's comment
By: Phil in the U.S. , Thu, 07 Jul 2005 16:20:06 GMT

To: Mr Afraid 2 GiveHisName - You, sir, are obviously an idiot, or, perhaps worse.

In the end freedom will prevail. It is right, it is costly and it is paid for by the blood of those who beleive in it and who are willing to fight for it. i.e., not Spain, not France, but the Brits, Americans and our allies in the cause.

Acts like the attacks today, costly as they are, will serve to galvanize freedom-loving people against al-qaeda and similar misfits.

Muslim people should take note; this is not good for you. Take action to rid yourselves of this cancer. After all, it is rather simple. . . you are either with us against terroism, or, you are the enemy.

You don't want to be the enemy of free people in a righteous fight.

And, Mr. Afraid, I hear they need a few more people capable of wearing vests. Apply in person somewhere in Syria, or, Lebanon... Just go quickly.

London, Africa
By: J. King , Thu, 07 Jul 2005 16:11:58 GMT

We were trying to halp Africa, which is in desperate need. All the work and effort has now been for nothing. We were even in a week where leaders were being pushed to try and help the planet with climate change.

Soon there will be no planet to blow up thanks to greenhouse gasses.

This attack is a tragedy and i feel sorrow for all those affected. I also am ashamed that this was a chance to do some good for our planet and instead we are clearing bodies and body parts off the street.

Senseless.....

London
By: Andrew , Thu, 07 Jul 2005 16:07:32 GMT

Britain welcomes all races, cultures and religions. Don't stop the free movement of people, don't cause problems between people who do get along.

We need to weed out al-qaeda and perhaps look for the causes of the attacks.

It used to be Palestine although efforts are being made to rectify that situation thankfully with the end game hopefully being a Palestinian State.

Now it seems Iraq and Afganistan is to blame or the alleged cause.

What exactly is their cause?

If insurgents stopped killing in Iraq (Killing fellow Muslims) then the forces would leave, similar in Afganistan.

It seems that they just want to kill people. If we knew the cause then perhaps we could discuss them and try to solve them.

I respect every religion and would like to get to the bottom of the causes and real reasons. Playing tit for tat forever with peoples lives being the consequence is no solution. That goes both ways.

Lets be sensible and try to find solutions.

Condolences to those who have suffered and are suffering through these tragic events.

A lot of comments and no action
By: Smithe , Thu, 07 Jul 2005 16:06:34 GMT

I must say, as an American I hold my freedom sacred. As a 34 year old American, I am new to war. Reflecting upon history, creation of civilization in the West, and how it has become as we know it today, it took great strife and blood shed. If we really want to get to the nitty gritty for the lack of a better, let's reflect on religion for a moment. BLOODSHED! As an American, and one who has done quite a bit of research on our history, and how it has come about, we need to subject the countries that harbor these criminals and give them ample notice that the US and it's affiliates are coming with great harm and bloodshed to all if these acts do not cease to exist. It is a matter of good vs. evil. Good always prevails, God knows, the Devil knows, and America knows it. God save us all, but not until the Devil is blown off the face of this earth.

The Terrorists Must Be Brought To Justice but World Trade Must Reform As Well
By: Hubbard , Thu, 07 Jul 2005 16:03:18 GMT

Every dollar or pound in your pocket carries with it the blood and the tears of the third world. As long as world trade is established by military means and the voices of the sick, starving and dying are ignored by the "civilized" world there will be an enormous feeling of injustice in the world and every country with the power to change this will be suspect.

This is not about religion this is about world trade. We need to stop the traffic of slaves. We need to establish international law to protect workers and eliminate child labor, We need to pressure countries with bad human rights records to reform, we need to develop sustainable trade relations and a fair world market that builds financial freedom for all.

Without reform, if it is not Al Qaida it will be someone else. Terrorism is awful, these acts are barbaric. The terrorists must be hunted down and captured. As well as that, the cause of this conflict must be addressed. Otherwise it's just a matter of time before more people resort to this evil means of action.

People are smart, if they are touched by injustice they will find a way to express themselves, and people are also really stupid, so some who are touched by injustice will turn around and do something more unjust like terrorism, but the cause is the same. These people are suffering. Everyone suffers.

Borders and solutions
By: Mark , Thu, 07 Jul 2005 15:59:02 GMT

Closing borders won't help, at least not much and not for very long. You can't close them tight enough to stop all the bad elements from getting in, and what kind of a free society wants to live like that anyway?

As much as I hate to agree with George Bush, the only long-term solution is to bring democracy and prosperity to the region that is generating all of this violence. Sad that the societies in question are so oppressed by their rulers that force is the only way to open the window for democracy to squeeze in, but what else can we do? Wait quietly for the next attack, maybe insult Ariel Sharon a bit, and hope that satisfies the extremists?

terror
By: wierton willie , Thu, 07 Jul 2005 15:58:51 GMT

This seems like it will help Bush convince the world he told us so, more than it helps Alqida. After the impact Live 8 had on rallying people together more fear and terror was needed to drive us apart. The bosses can't have the subordinates calling the shots. I wonder if it would be possible that western war interests might be behind such terror attacks?

Condemnation
By: Dennis , Thu, 07 Jul 2005 15:58:22 GMT

Has anyone seen any reports of condemnation against such acts from ANY official Muslim voices. Why!!??

''
By: Ross , Thu, 07 Jul 2005 15:57:48 GMT

This is still scary, I was in London last month, and am now home in Australia, my uncle lives on one end of liverpool street and frequents liverpool st station and I cant get through to anyone's phone.

A double decker bus being torn apart is a shocking image of terrorism hitting the most famous city on earth. Having ridden on so many I am grateful I was not there but can only grieve for those who lost their lives and hope my uncle and cousins were not among them.

It is also scary with the threats against denmark and italy, for being involved in iraq/afghanistan, but so was Australia, and despite increased security I doubt we will be able to stop any future attacks as much as this one was not stopped.

The entire civilized world must unite againt MUSLIM radicals and the poor-excuse-for-a-religion that shelters and protects them
By: Mr D , Thu, 07 Jul 2005 15:57:17 GMT

Dear Mr Tim, May I ask...."The entire civilized world must unite againt MUSLIM radicals and the poor-excuse-for-a-religion that shelters and protects them".....when you say poor excuse as a religion... do you mean we should focus on wiping out Islam? Its a very interesting public statement. I think the good people of London deserve to express their anger. You are being lied to mr Tim. By who???
Maybe the peace loving christian who makes decisions in your name assisted by the press who make him kneel are laughing at you Mr Tim. Loving you also.

Terror
By: zeke , Thu, 07 Jul 2005 15:56:38 GMT

These kind of attacks will never end. It is a sad fact that we will all in the free world have will have to come to terms with. As long as there is any country that has freedom and strong economy there will be that one percent of the population that are jelous. I HATE these attacks and the people that do them, but sadly I fell that these are not the first and no where near the last.

Terrorism
By: DaveyK , Thu, 07 Jul 2005 15:54:39 GMT

Estimate: 98% of Muslims are peace-loving people.
But 98% of terrorists are Muslims. It makes no sense. Killing in the name of Islam goes against everything the Koran stands for.

London Bombings
By: Mike , Thu, 07 Jul 2005 15:54:07 GMT

I offer my condolences to all the people of London especially the families and friends of those injured or killed in this cowardly act.

I agree with a previous poster, in that I think it is time for all the world to unite in an effort to eradicate the poor excuse for humanity who would perpetrate such acts.

Being Canadian I can only regret that our Federal Government has not stepped up to play a larger part in the effort to eliminate such refuge, they should be ashamed of the feeble efforts they have put forth in responding to such threats.

If these people consider it an honour to died for their faith, perhaps we should do the honorable thing for as many of them as we can find.

One American's Opinion
By: Brandon , Thu, 07 Jul 2005 15:52:36 GMT

As an American, I give my condolences to our British allies who have suffered in this attack by radical muslim's. I stand with you and pledge myself and the democratic power I wield in my own country to the support and defense of America's closest ally in her prosecution of all enemies of freedom that would strike at the innocent and defenseless in cold-hearted terror. My deepest sympathies to your country. May God grant quick destruction to our common enemy.

-Brandon

to tim n all those who blame Islam
By: wutever , Thu, 07 Jul 2005 15:52:30 GMT

wutever happened today.. u cant blame any one religion.. blaming a religion is rediculously pathetic, lame, and dumb. sure, there are people.. wait.. Muslim people in the world who are angry.. but then again there are others who think every thing that is happening in the world is wrong.. and if the causers of all the chaos are a group of Muslims.. then they're wrong.. i personally dont think they are but for the sake of the argument.. lets say they are.. wut about all of the mean and cruel people in the Christian or any other religion.. there are others who kill in the world ya know.. not just Muslims..

stopping immigration is a damn stupid idea.
By: johnny , Thu, 07 Jul 2005 15:51:29 GMT

i don't think immigration should cease. nor do i think the government should pass laws a la america's patriot act.

what i think should be done is precisely what many are saying on this site. we must root al-qaida out of britain and elsewhere.

stopping immigration would be al-qaida equivalent thinking. they do not attack the leaders who made the decisions, they attack innocents.

should we now hurt innocents seeking refuge by denying them entry?

let's b aware
By: nibi , Thu, 07 Jul 2005 15:51:20 GMT

It is really pity that some antisocial, terrorists elements are doing such inhuman things in the name of god.these people really do not understand the meaning of relegion.
It is a global issue and its decaying the roots of worlds greatest democracies, We should be prepared against such terrorist strikes, and join hands together to fight this evil of the recent century.

LET GOD GIVE COURAGE TO THOSE AFFECTED BY THIS DISASTER.

sake!
By: emall , Thu, 07 Jul 2005 15:51:09 GMT

So, where are the Muslim leaders, with their outrage at this action? Everytime an incedent occurs, we hear nothing from the Islamic community.

al-Qaeda claims responsiblity
By: Chris - Quakertown PA USA , Thu, 07 Jul 2005 15:50:58 GMT

The US needs to use all means necessary to find and kill all al-queda animals. It doesn't matter how long it takes and how much money it costs.

The cost of freedom has never been cheap and never will be!

The world should stand together --- if you aren't helping then you are part of the problem.

ask yourself this
By: The Murr , Thu, 07 Jul 2005 15:50:31 GMT

Apparently al-qaeda has admitted to causing these 'apparent' terrorist attacks. The only source for this is from some 'islamic website'... what website? Is it a matter of national security to hide this from the public? If this is on the internet then why is it that the news agencies are the first to get the scoop? I mean if it's just some 'islamic website' then why haven't I heard this from just any lay person? I ask only this: provide the website, please. Other wise find out who really did this and killed and injured innocent people on this day.
And another thing, margaret added that al-qaeda are cowards who brainwash their militants to do battle while they reap the profits from company shares shares on the market... take a good look at what our government and military officials are doing... they lied and brainwashed not only the public, but the soldiers who are at 'war' now while they sit on their nicely cushioned, aristocratic seats making profits from oil pipelines and company shares. The only difference is the legitimacy of the claim. Our claims are legitimate and theirs are not, unless, of course we find some post on an 'islamic website'that lays claim to some 'terrorist attack'. This is not just some attempt to 'upset' the multicultural balance of society or the economy, is is an attempt to strike fear into the minds of the everyday person in order to dissuade or persuade a public opinion. To what end I can imagine we shall soon find out.

Don't get me wrong, what happened was criminal and it was terrorist and i truly feel for those who have lost their lives, been injured or lost loved ones. Bur we need to be more critical in our investigations, we need to not just take what some internet post says as being the truth. We need to think and not just listen.

Dilligence.
By: ThermalZeal , Thu, 07 Jul 2005 15:49:26 GMT

It was bound to happen, and it will happen again. We cannot, however, allow terrorism to be an excuse for the governments of our superpowers to hinder our own freedom to catch these people. The point is to become more free in our intelligence gathering. Namely, the United States and Great Britain should allow for a greater scope of inquiry and international judgement through agents of the special nature in foreign nations. We shall rob these people of their very livelihood in the darkest hour of night, while the sun shines on our soils. To remove our very freedom would be against our good. We should be dilligent in our intelligence within our nations, but we should not remove our freedoms unrestricted. Presiding outside of this nation, criminals with the unset nature of mind, go untouched. We travel after them with military bruteness, our hope to capture. But no more can we be looking for trials. Its time for us to help these people, as they claim to help us, send them to their allah. Let god be judge, but remove them from our planet.

Peaceful Muslims?
By: Dennis , Thu, 07 Jul 2005 15:48:29 GMT

Where on earth are the peace loving Muslims and where is their support and voice during these tragic events?

terrorism
By: PIYUSH , Thu, 07 Jul 2005 15:45:11 GMT

main resaon behind this attack is terrorism which has to be stoped to prevent lives of thousands.

Immigrants?
By: Samer Kurdi , Thu, 07 Jul 2005 15:45:07 GMT

Terrible as these incidents are, I fail to see how Margaret, above, makes the conclusion that "Britian should now close its borders, accept no more immigrants". Wouldn't such a drastic change signify that the terrorists have succeeded in altering the free and open fabric of society in the west? As an Arab immigrant living in Seattle, USA, it saddens me to see people using these terrible events to justify xenophobia. Terrorist attacks are fairly easy to perpetrate and you should not collectively punish an entire class of people because of them.

indeed

It is too bad.

I must agree with Tim. These people are out of control and have no respect for life.

wake up call
By: Mr Afraid 2 GiveHisName , Thu, 07 Jul 2005 15:40:52 GMT

The good people of London, decieved by their press and government are paying the price for the war criminal Tony Blairs foreign policy

Tim your comments are fascist
By: J , Thu, 07 Jul 2005 15:40:46 GMT

Tim your comments are extremely fascist. Enough of the lies that Christianity is a "peaceful" religion, look at the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. I sure hope the majority of the western world doesn't think about this the way you do.

Terrorism
By: Lisa , Thu, 07 Jul 2005 15:40:04 GMT

Condolences and prayers to the victims and families of this latest attack. Freedom is a way of life and can never be destroyed by cowards who hide in the darkness.

using disaster
By: Voltaire , Thu, 07 Jul 2005 15:39:10 GMT

Like many people in the UK, i'm concerned at how the politicians will use the tragedy, eg. to bring in ID cards and other restrictions, or whatever other laws are close to their hearts, related or unrelated to these events.

Its ill-minded terrorism, not religion
By: GAURAV KUKREJA , Thu, 07 Jul 2005 15:38:32 GMT

It is such a sad incident to have happened, especailly to people who in spite of knowing the ill-mindedness of groups such as Al-Quaida, operating through countries such as Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan, just for the sake of humanity, were all against their own Prime Minister.

This incident would only make people unite against such elements, and ensure that their governments always remain after such pathetic creatures, and continue to hunt them where ever in the world they are, until they are all finished.

Such an inhuman, immoral attack will tarnish the Muslim image further, and people all around world would identify Islam with terrorism.

Now all can see
By: Richard , Thu, 07 Jul 2005 15:37:52 GMT

It should now be obvious to the entire world that these extreemist groups have nothing more than world domination as their goal. We will now watch and see if Great Briton caves in and withdraws it's troops, as did Spain after the train attacks. One can only hope that the nations of the world will unite against these terrorist groups and quit bickering over whether George Bush is right or wrong. Obviously he is right for the long term solution. it will not be without a great effor, and much more lives lost however.

My condolences
By: David , Thu, 07 Jul 2005 15:36:58 GMT

My condolences to the British people especially those who have lost loved ones. While it is clear that the war on terror is not globally well liked, it is necessary to rid the world of those who committ these cowardly acts under the name of the Muslim faith. They are not Muslims, they are terrorist and cowards, they bring their terror and violence to innocent people. They are not worthy of having freedom or peace. They need to be hunted down and held accountable, and it is the duty of the global community to rid the world of this cowardly scum. It must be done before it is too late and innocent people ask us why we didn't do something to stop these terrorist.

Today's horrible tragedy...
By: John Willets , Thu, 07 Jul 2005 15:35:49 GMT

This is to send sincere condolences to a nation and the victims of these cowardly, vicious, and inhuman attacks. Let's hope together that we will both [USA and UK] emerge on the high ground continuing to act to reduce the causes of desperation and evil that results in the hopeless conditions that attract misguided and mislead human beings to commit these kinds of inhuman atrocities.

Liberty vs. Security
By: Blaise , Thu, 07 Jul 2005 15:33:22 GMT

Of course closing the borders, ending immigration and requiring everyone to have valid passports would make any nation more secure. But really, such measures will not stop the sufficiently determined. And this enemy more than sufficiently determined.

Such draconian actions would only serve their cause. It is by carrying the torch of liberty and democracy to these people that we can see change. And we certainly cannot light that torch as the homefires are guttering out in a spatter of fear and xenophobia.

Even on the economic front, these kinds of policies on immigration serve only to keep the price of domestic labour artificially high. If there is a black-market for cheaper labour it is simply a sign that British workers are unwilling to compete in the global labour market. And, in the long run and the longer the disparity the harsher the backlash when the labour markets finally do balance.

Enough is enough. The entire civilized world must unite againt MUSLIM radicals and the poor-excuse-for-a-religion that shelters and protects them. Enough of the lies that "Islam is a peaceful religion." The world now can begin to see Islam for what it really is. God bless the British and all free souls in the West who are all potential targets for these devils in our midst.

This has been expected for some time

Still tragic, condolences to all those who have lost loved ones.

Britain should now close it's borders, accept no more immigrants, with 400,000 in the UK, whereabouts unknown it's time for action - all citizens to carry a passport at all times; border police and army posted with immediate effect and the 400,000 illegal immigrants rounded up and sent home.

It's now enough.

Time for us to stop being so damn politically correct and stand up for ourselves as we once did. This attack has nothing to do with Iraq, Afganistan and the like, where we are in fact helping the people; it is an attempt as 9/11 to destroy our ecomomy and way of life.

Carrying passports, border security and no further immigration regardless of cause does that to some extent but normal service cannot be resumed until these cowards are caught; these were innocent people for goodness sake.

Whether a blitz or the IRA, bombing will not defeat the people of Britain, history shows the complete opposite and in fact acts such as this, even with over the top media coverage are likely to unite the Nation.

Cowards like al-qaeda operate not for the good of Muslim's they simply brainwash volunteers who then conduct acts such as this while the 'leaders' buy and sell oil, shares and the like making themselves money.

We have a multicultural society in Britain, this is an attempt to upset the balance, which we must not do. I would expect muslims and indeed any and all Britisg citizens to condemn this act of cowardice unreservedly.
