LONDON - Singer Mariah Carey is the new face of fashion label Pinko after signing a big deal with the Italian brand. The 36-year-old pop diva may have missed out on Grammys, but she did have something to celebrate soon afterwards.
"I'm really flattered to have been asked to be the new face of Pinko. I first discovered this spectacular fashion house while working in Italy, in my favorite place in the world, the Isle of Capri," the singer said. "So as you can imagine, when I was approached about doing the Pinko campaign I was beyond excited."
Carey added that Pinko's clothes were very stylish and that she looked forward to the new venture. A Pinko spokeswoman did not say how much the deal was worth, but dropped a brad hint, "It's a very, very big deal." The Pinko campaign with Carey was shot by Michelangelo Di Battista with Giovanni Bianco directing the art.
Elle Macpherson, Naomi Campbell and Eva Herzigova have been the previous famous faces linked with Pinko.
Mariah Carey has been on a roll ever since the release of 'The Emancipation of Mimi.' The album has sold 9 million copies since its release in 2005 and has even achieved 9 x platinum status.
