Frankfurt - The German football federation (DFB) confirmed Tuesday that discussions with national team coach Joachim Loew over a contract extension will continue after this summer's World Cup in South Africa. "This is what both sides want," said DFB president Theo Zwanziger in Frankfurt, adding that it "wouldn't make sense" to have negotiations beforehand.
"We'll see what happens after the World Cup," said Loew after the meeting at DFB headquarters.
Last week, Zwanziger revealed that the DFB had been unable to reach agreement with Loew about a two-year contract extension until after Euro 2012 in Poland and Ukraine.
According to media reports, the main sticking point remains the financial package offered to Loew, including the 50-year-old's apparent request for a signing on fee equivalent to a year's salary.
Germany play their first World Cup game on June 13 against Australia, with Ghana and Serbia their other opponents in group D.
