Amman - The Jordanian authorities have denied entry to deputy leader of the Islamic movement in Israel Kamal Khatib, the activist was cited as saying on Monday by the daily newspaper al-Sabeel. Khatib said that he had come to Jordan on Sunday to register his son at a Jordanian university, but he was turned back at a crossing point and forced to return in the same bus he came aboard "without being given the reasons".
He urged the Jordanian government to open dialogue with the Islamic movement in Israel to clear any "misleading information" which may have prompted the Jordanian authorities to prevent his entry to the country.
Jordan previously banned the leader of the Islamic movement in Israel Raed Salah several times from entering its territory.
Both men were repeatedly arrested by Israel for protests against Israeli measures in occupied East Jerusalem.
