Munich - Iran has not put forward any counter-proposal on how it wants an international deal on enriching its uranium to work, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said Saturday after talks with Iran's foreign minister. On Friday, Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said that his country was basically ready to accept an IAEA proposal on the issue, but that some details would have to be changed.
"I didn't receive the counter-proposal," IAEA head Yukiya Amano told journalists at the prestigious annual Munich Security Conference shortly after a half-hour meeting with Mottaki.
"The dialogue is continuing and should be accelerated," Amano said.
Mottaki's comments divided delegates at the conference, with some seeing them as a sign that Iran is ready to compromise on its controversial nuclear programme, and others seeing them as a delaying tactic.
