Los Angeles - The Michael Jackson concert film This Is It was released on DVD Tuesday, and was greeted by fans dressed as the legendary pop star at midnight release parties in Los Angeles and New York. The biggest celebration however came in the Philippines where 1,500 inmates from the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center danced to the track They Don't Care About US with Travis Payne, Jackson's long-time choreographer.
Footage of the stunt screened on US television show Good Morning America showed the inmates in formation in a large prison yard, wearing orange and black prison gear and forming a huge peace sign.
This Is It became the best selling concert documentary ever when it was released in cinemas at the end of October, four months after Jackson died aged 45 from an overdose of a hospital anesthetic he was misusing as a sleep aid.
The film was culled from some 100 hours of rehearsal footage for Jackson's comeback series of concerts that he was due to perform at London's O2 Arena. Jackson died on June 25, 2009, three weeks before the first show was slated to take place.
Jackson is due to be honoured with a lifetime achievement award at the Grammy music awards Sunday night in a broadcast that will feature a 3D clip produced for the concert, a snippet of which is seen in the film.
