Hamburg - Borussia Dortmund stretched their unbeaten run to nine games with a 3-1 win over VfL Wolfsburg Sunday while a Jens Lehmann moment of madness cost VfB Stuttgart victory against Mainz 05. Lucas Barrios struck twice in the opening 10 minutes and Patrick Owomoyela added a third to move Juergen Klopp's side up to sixth on 27 points, five adrift of leaders Bayer Leverkusen, who drew 2-2 with bottom side Hertha Berlin in the Friday night game.

Mohamed Zidan set up both goals for Argentine striker Barrios, who has now registered eight goals in 16 Bundesliga matches.

Egypt striker Zidan created the first on eight minutes, crossing from inside the area for Barrios to stroke the ball home.

Barrios netted his second two minutes later when Zidan raced into the box and rounded Wolfsburg goalkeeper Diego Benaglio before crossing for his teammate to tap the ball into the empty net from a metre out.

With Wolfsburg now chasing the game, Owomoyela made it 3-0 to the visitors on 37 minutes after Benaglio's save from Mats Hummels landed in his path.

Indeed, Barrios should have netted his hat-trick five minutes before the break but fired wide with only Benaglio to beat.

Substitute Grafite did manage to pull one back for Wolfsburg on 55 minutes but there was no way back for Armin Veh's side, who stay ninth on 23 points.

Stuttgart looked well on their way to registering a second victory in succession under new coach Christian Gross until a moment of madness from Lehmann saw Mainz snatch a late draw.

Pavel Pogrebnyak looked to have sealed only Stuttgart's third league win of the season until Lehmann, with the ball safely in his hands, inexplicably stood on the foot of Mainz striker Aristide Bance to concede a penalty with only three minutes remaining.

The Stuttgart goalkeeper saw a straight red for his actions, which seemed to be in response to an earlier foul by Bance, and substitute Eugen Polanski calmly slotted home from the spot to level the match at 1-1.

"Obviously, it's bitter that the equalizer fell here. I have to talk with Jens first about the incident," said Stuttgart sporting director Horst Heldt.

Until Lehmann's intervention, Stuttgart looked like building on a 3-1 midweek victory over Romania's Unirea Urziceni that secured the club's place in the last 16 of the Champions League.

Instead, Stuttgart stay fourth from bottom of the table on 13 points with the question now whether Lehmann will play for the club again.

The former Germany goalkeeper faces suspension for his actions and has already reportedly refused to pay a hefty fine, imposed by Stuttgart for his criticism of club officials over the sacking of coach Markus Babbel.

The 40-year-old received a warning and a fine - said to be around 40,000 euros (59,000 dollars) - on Friday after saying in a television interview last Wednesday that the club management caved in to young fans when it sacked Babbel and replaced him with Gross.
