Kuusamo, Finland - Ola Vigen Hattestad of Norway and Poland's Justyna Kowalczyk won the cross-country World Cup classic style sprints Saturday in Kusaamo. Hattestad secured the win in the men's 1.4-kilometre race in 2 minutes 57.2 seconds, finishing a second clear of compatriot Oystein Pettersen. Nikita Kriukov of Russia took third spot, 2.6 seconds behind Hattestad.
Kowalczyk claimed victory in the women's 1.2km event in a time of 3:00.5 minutes, finishing 0.8 seconds clear of Slovenia's Petra Majdic with Alena Prochazkova of Slovakia two hundredths of a second further adrift in third.
Kowalczyk heads the women's overall World Cup standings with 122 points after two of 30 events, with Norway's Marit Bjorgen second on 100 and Majdic third on 92 points.
Ronny Andre Hafsas of Norway is now tied with Hattestad at the top of the men's standings on 100 points after two of 30 events. France's Vincent Vittoz and Pettersen share third on 80 points.
