Jakarta - A magnitude-6.2 earthquake struck a remote eastern Indonesian island of Sumba in East Nusa Tenggara Saturday, but there were no immediate reports of injury and damage, officials said. The quake took place at a depth of 30 kilometres, located about 195 kilometres south-west of Waingapu on Sumba Island. It occurred at 1:04 pm (0604 GMT), the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency said.
The statement said the quake did not trigger a tsunami.
On September 30, a powerful 7.6-magnitude quake struck off the western coast of Sumatra, killing thousands and injuring hundreds of others.
