Madrid - European champions Barcelona announced on Wednesday that the contract of left-back Eric Abidal had been extended for a year, until 2012. Abidal said on Wednesday that "I feel good in this team. This is the best club in the world."
Abidal, 30, joined Barca in 2007 from Olympique Lyon, and has proved to be a solid left-back.
The Frenchman is the sixth Barca player to have his contract extended in recent months, following Yaya Toure, Victor Valdes, Pedro Rodriguez, Lionel Messi and Carles Puyol.
The next players to receive a contract extension offer, according to the Spanish media, are Andres Iniesta, Gerard Pique and Rafael Marquez.
