Hanover, Germany - Hanover 96 players will wear shirts with a black number one for the rest of the season in a tribute to their late goalkeeper Robert Enke. The Bundesliga club Hanover said on Wednesday that the German football league had approved the idea.
The Germany and Hanover goalkeeper Enke committed suicide on November 10, with his widow saying the next day that he had suffered from depression for years.
Hanover wore the shirts with the number one on the chest last Saturday against Schalke in what was the first match since Enke's death.
