Susan Sarandon got advice from her children on how to be a bad grandmother.
The Oscar-winning actress - who plays Grandma Lynn in new movie 'The Lovely Bones', in which her character is more interested in drinking, smoking and pampering herself than her family - admits her own kids don't have great grandparent so they gave her some tips.
Susan - who has a 24-year-old daughter Eva with ex-boyfriend Franco Amurri and two sons, Jack, 20, and 17-year-old Miles with current partner Tim Robbins - said: "Grandma Lynn is quite wacky, which is good for me because my kids think I am wacky anyway! But she's not your typical grandma and when I asked my kids what makes a bad grandparent, they could tell me because theirs aren't exactly the best!
"But in the end Grandma Lynn comes good for the family, as they struggle to come to terms with the death of her granddaughter Susie - she is the one holding them altogether."
The movie is based on the best-selling book and tells the story of murdered 14-year-old Susie Salmon and how she can't go to heaven until she and her family have accepted her death.
Susan admits Grandma Lynn was a terrible mother to her own daughter and a poor grandparent, but following Susie's tragic death she tries to make amends.
She said: "She failed miserably with her own daughter but she's been given a second chance and while she doesn't embrace it at first, she soon becomes the one they all need."
