Hamburg - German under-21 international Dennis Aogo is to play for Nigeria at the 2010 World Cup, the Sport Bild weekly reported on Wednesday. The report said that the SV Hamburg defender Aogo, 22, will be visited by a high-ranking Nigerian delegation within the next days, with national team coach Shaibu Amodou and others trying convince him to join their ranks.
Aogo has snubbed two previous efforts to play for the home country of his father, but was quoted by Sport Bild as saying that Nigeria's qualification for the World Cup makes the issue "very interesting."
Aogo won the European under-21 title with Germany but can make a switch because he has not yet played a competitive match for the senior German national team.
