Amman - Jordan and Turkey on Tuesday held the seventh and final round of negotiations for liberalizing trade between the two countries, a senior official said. A free trade agreement is now expected to be signed when Turkish Prime Minister Recept Tayyip Erdogan visits Jordan later this year, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Trade and Industry Montasser Oqlah said.
The negotiations, begun in 2005, have "now nearly reached their end by resolving a large number of outstanding issues," he added.
The accord "will set the stage for a new era of economic cooperation between Jordan and Turkey and lead to a jump in the volume of bilateral trade and investments," Oqlah said.
