Los Angeles - Janet Jackson on Monday blamed Dr Conrad Murray for the death of her brother Michael and called for him to be banned from medical practice. "He was the one that was administering," she said in her first interview since the singer's June death. "I think he is responsible."

Murray, who was Jackson's personal physician, has admitted to administering the anesthetic propofol, which was blamed in the coroner's report for the singer's June 25 death.

In the interview with ABC, Jackson said she was in "disbelief" when she learnt of the death.

"It's been a tough year," Jackson said. "You have your days where it's just really - it's hard to believe. And a day doesn't go by that I don't think about him."

However the memorial service at the Staples Center helped her deal with her grief.

"My brother's favorite song is 'Smile.' And I thought Jermaine sang it beautifully, beautifully," she said.
