Paris - The driver of an armoured van who made off with 11.6 million euros (17.2 million dollars) in the French city of Lyon and became an internet folk hero has given himself up to police in Monaco, French BFM TV reported Monday. Toni Musulin, 39, took off with the van and the 38 bags of money it was transporting on November 5, while the two guards traveling with him left him alone to collect more money from a bank.
A few days afterwards, police found a rental car containing some 9 million euros of the booty in a garage near Lyon.
Musulin became a hero on the internet, with a Facebook page that counted more than 1,000 "friends."
