Valletta, Malta - Pope Benedict XVI is to visit Malta in April to mark the 1950th anniversary of St Paul's shipwreck, the island's Archbishop Paul Cremona announced Saturday. The pope is to attend an open-air mass and meet with young people during the two-day visit on April 17 and 18.
This would be the third visit by a pope to the tiny and staunchly Catholic Mediterranean island.
St Paul is believed to have stayed for three months on the island in 60 AD after being shipwrecked on the way to Rome.
