Madrid - Sporting Gijon goalkeeper Ivan Cuellar will be out of action for the rest of the season, the Asturian club announced on Friday. Cuellar, 25, tore the cruciate ligament in his left knee in training on Friday, and will be out for at least six months.
Cuellar suffered a serious injury in his right knee last season.
His latest injury opens the door for reserve goalkeeper Juan Pablo Colinas, aged 31.
Gijon, who were promoted in 2008 after 11 years' absence from the top flight, are currently sixth in La Liga.
On Tuesday they were eliminated from the King's Cup on penalties by second division side Recreativo Huelva.
