Madrid - Spanish giants Atletico Madrid announced on Friday that the contract of Cleber Santana, which was due to expire in 2010, had been extended until 2012. The Brazilian midfielder, 28, joined Atletico in 2007 but failed to make much of an impact and was loaned out to Mallorca last season.
He returned to the Estadio Calderon five months ago and has performed more consistently.
Santana is the third player to have his contract extended by Atletico recently, following Diego Forlan and Jose Manuel Jurado.
Atletico are third from bottom in La Liga and already without any chance of reaching the Champions League round of 16.
