Paris - Nikolay Davydenko Thursday claimed the eighth spot in ATP year-end field, as a loss by Spain's Fernando Verdasco guaranteed the Russian at least the last place in the tournament. Davydenko lost to fellow contender Robin Soderling 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 in their third-round clash at the Paris Masters.
But a later loss by Verdasco 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 to Marin Cilic meant that Davydenko will take his place from November 22 in London.
He had earlier missed the opportunity to clinch directly by winning the match against Soderling, according to ATP calculations.
