Madrid- Spain's biggest airline, Iberia, cancelled 185 flights on Wednesday while unions representing cabin crew seeking higher pay announced more strikes. The cancelled flights included 120 national and 65 international ones, affecting some 20,000 passengers. The same number of flights was called off on Tuesday. The two one-day work stoppages followed two previous ones in October.
Madrid airport was reported to be functioning normally except for the complaints of some passengers at Iberia counters. The airline has offered affected passengers the possibility of changing their tickets or getting their money back.
In all, about 800 flights have been cancelled during four work stoppages since October.
Trade unions have announced eight more strikes, from November 30 to December 2 and from December 14 to 18, unless an agreement is reached with Iberia on higher pay.
