Los Angeles - Michael Jackson's often estranged father Joe Jackson lost a legal bid Tuesday to challenge the executors of his son's will. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff ruled that because he had does not stand to inherit any of his son's assets, Jackson, 80, has no standing to challenge the executors.
But Jackson can pursue a motion to receive a family allowance from the estate because he claimed his son had been supporting him, Beckloff said.
The judge's decision came after Jackson's mother, Katherine, withdrew her objections to the executors of his will.
Her attorney Adam Streisand said that Katherine Jackson decided she wanted to let the executors go about earning money for the estate rather than incurring more legal fees.
In his will, Jackson left his assets to his mother, his children and children's charities, and appointed long-time attorney John Branca and music executive John McClain as executors.
