Budapest - A Hungarian prison guard shot dead a female colleague before turning his service revolver on himself on Monday, authorities confirmed. The incident occurred during an early morning change of shift at a jail in Szekesfehervar, some 70 kilometres from the capital Budapest, a spokesman for the national prison authority told the state news agency MTI. Police have launched an investigation into the case, but the reason for the shooting is as yet unclear. The safety of prisoners and security of the jail were at no time jeopardised by the incident, the authorities said.
