Amman - Jordan's King Abdullah II flew to London on Sunday for a "working visit" to Britain which was due to last for several days, the royal court announced. The monarch, accompanied by Queen Rania, is scheduled to meet with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown on "latest developments in the Middle East, particularly efforts being made to establish peace based on the two-state vision", a royal court statement said.

King Abdullah is also to deliver a speech at the British Royal College for Defence Studies outlining his "vision on Middle East developments, particularly those related to the Arab-Israeli conflict and efforts under way to meet the aspirations of the Palestinian people through the setting up of an independent state," it added.

The Jordanian leader was involved in intensive contacts over the past week that included meetings with Egyptian President Hosny Mubarak, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and US Middle East envoy George Mitchell.
